MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) - A memorandum of understanding between the National Assembly of Belarus and the Arab Parliament, signed in Minsk on 20 July, will serve as an interparliamentary bridge connecting Belarus with the Arab world in the future, President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi told journalists, BelTA has learned.
“Today we signed not just a memorandum of understanding. We are building an interparliamentary bridge that will connect Belarus with the Arab world in the future,” Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi said.
According to him, the relations between the National Assembly of Belarus and the Arab Parliament are entering a new level, that of strategic partnership. “We attach great importance to interparliamentary cooperation, as we believe it is an extension of official diplomacy,” he added.
Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi believes that interaction at the interparliamentary level between Arab countries and Belarus helps strengthen relations in all areas and serves the interests of their peoples.
Relations with Belarus, he noted, cover all key areas of cooperation among the 22 Arab states that are members of the Arab Parliament, including trade and economic ties, and cooperation in education and healthcare.
Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi expressed gratitude for the rich program and numerous meetings scheduled as part of the official visit.
