Advancement of Belarus-Singapore political, economic cooperation discussed

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky visited Singapore and met with a number of representatives of the Singaporean government, BelTA learned from the Belarusian government website.

Vasily Matyushevsky met with Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Finance Indranee Rajah, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policy Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and Senior Minister of State at the Trade and Industry Ministry and the National Development Ministry Koh Poh Koon.

The sides discussed topical aspects of Belarus-Singapore cooperation in politics, trade and economic affairs, credit and investment sphere, science and technology. Ways to expand the legal base were discussed, too.

The Belarusian delegation was on a visit to Singapore on 13-15 November. Apart from First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky the delegation included representatives of the Finance Ministry, the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, the National Agency of Investment and Privatization, the administration of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, Belinvestbank, and the Belarusian business community.

The Belarusian delegation took part in the investment forum Belarus Calling Asia. Asian partners were made familiar with the financial system, the economic potential, the intellectual potential, the technological and investment potentials of Belarus. The establishment of cooperation between Belarusian and Asian companies was discussed as well as the interest of regional investors in floating Belarusian debt instruments on Asian stock markets. A number of documents were signed on advancing cooperation between Belarusian and Chinese partners, including efforts to increase the export of Belarusian merchandise.
