MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – About 13,000 Ukrainian citizens living in Belarus will be able to cast their ballot during the forthcoming Ukrainian presidential election, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim told BelTA.

Two polling stations will be set up in Belarus: one in the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk and the other in the Ukrainian Consulate General in Brest. They will be open on the election day, on 31 March, from 8:00 to 20.00. The ambassador noted that there is no early voting in Ukraine.

Igor Kizim said that the first session of the election commission took place in Minsk on 14 March to discuss organizational mattes. This commission will work daily, including weekends, in the Ukrainian Embassy, from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00. Here Ukrainian nationals living in Belarus will be able to check if they are on the electoral register. This can also be done online.

The ambassador noted that the electoral register had already been drawn up in Ukraine. He informed that changes to the register can be made through 23 March, a week prior to the election day.

Igor Kizim expects many people to go to the polls. He noted that members of the election commission, representatives of presidential candidates and voters can be present in the polling stations.
