Zhuravkov: Number of Turkish students in Belarus can double in 2017

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – The number of Turkish students in Belarus can double in 2017, Belarus’ Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov told reporters, BelTA informs.

“The interest of Turkish citizens in the Belarusian education system has increased. They want to study in Belarus. It is very good that they want not only to get the first-degree education, but are also interested in postgraduate studies. Therefore, we have had a series of talks and prepared an agreement regarding all the peculiarities of education in Belarus for Turkish citizens,” the minister said.

“We expect that the inflow of Turkish citizens to our universities will increase. At present there are about 300 students. We believe that this number will at least double next year,” Mikhail Zhuravkov said.

According to the minister, Turkish citizens are interested in medicine, the R&D sector, IT, nanotechnologies, chemistry of new materials, and the innovative economy.

The sides also held talks to discuss the possibility to organize professional advancement courses for Belarusians in Turkey.
