Yermolovich: Belarus cooperates closely with IMF

MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Belarus is working in close contact with the International Monetary Fund, Belarus’ Deputy Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich told reporters after an extended meeting of the permanent commission on budget and finance of the House of Representatives on 14 June, BelTA has learned.

“Routine work is now underway with the IMF. We just hosted another mission. We are in pretty close contact with the IMF and appreciate this cooperation. We will continue it,” said Maksim Yermolovich.

The last time an IMF mission was in Belarus was on 5-12 June. The IMF experts led by Peter Dohlman assessed the country’s economic policy and held annual consultations with the Belarusian authorities under Article IV ahead of the IMF annual mission scheduled for October.

BelTA reported earlier that Belarus is intent on starting a new program on cooperation with the International Monetary Fund in 2017. Earlier reports stated that the country hopes to borrow $3.5 billion from the IMF.
