Yakubovich: Peaceful Belarus looks decent on the map of the region

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Belarus with its peaceful policy looks decent on the map of the region, Pavel Yakubovich, Editor-in-Chief of the SB. Belarus Segodnya newspaper, said in the evening TV show “Editors’ Club” on 15 November, BelTA informs.

“Today Belarus looks very much decent on the map of our region. We do not threat anyone, do not demand our neighbors to return us some territories. We are a country which is perfect in neighboring relations,” the media expert said.

In his words, since Belarus does not threat anyone, it has the right to expect the same attitude from others. “But what the reality will be is a different story since we have enough nuances here. The example of Ukraine and other countries prompt, as it seems to me, our political authorities and the society constantly think about security. It is true not only in the military aspect. There are a lot of aspects here. Each area of our security should be timely and adequate. If we talk about the army, here we need new weapon systems. If it is information security, there is a need for a set of tools to help us withstand,” said Pavel Yakubovich.

According to Director General of ZAO BelKP-PRESS Galina Malishevskaya, there are several important component parts in what pertains the support of the defensive capacity of the army. “First of all, it is its technological side. Here we have to keep our finger on the pulse at least to stay abreast with other in technologies, including military ones. Throughout the 20th century the army was an engine for the technological progress. Army is a big and serious customer of technological changes. Secondly, communication plays a pivotal role. It is highly important to ensure information security, understand the existing challenges,” she stressed.
