MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) - A repetition of the Venezuelan scenario in Belarus is impossible, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said in an interview with the First News TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“In Venezuela, unfortunately, the factor of betrayal towards the president and the government was likely in play. To fly so brazenly and safely across the territory of a foreign state in helicopters without even receiving any warning shots..,” Aleksandr Volfovich stated. “This is impossible in our country because the people in uniform are incapable of betrayal. The Belarusian people cannot betray their president; we simply do not have the right to do so.”
The state secretary of the Security Council recalled that in Belarus, necessary documents have been adopted at the legislative level. The work of the branches of government will be structured in accordance with them in the event of an emergency situation.
“All necessary legislative documents have been adopted at the level of the Security Council, which ensures that, regardless of whether the president is present at his workplace or not, the Security Council convenes, makes appropriate decisions, and the governance of the state is not lost for even a minute. Therefore, the maintenance of order, security, and governability in our country does not depend on any specific individual within the Republic of Belarus. We have adopted all necessary legislative acts and established operational protocols for this purpose. God willing, they will never be needed, and I believe they never will be, because our people, the Belarusian nation, and our security forces have an entirely different mentality. We were raised differently. We were taught differently to love our homeland and our Belarusian people,” Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.
