Vietnam president: Vietnam, Belarus are connected by close friendship

MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – Vietnam and Belarus are connected by close friendship between their people, reads the message of greetings from Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Belarus-Vietnam diplomatic relations. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Le Anh read out the message during a celebration event at the House of Friendship in Minsk on 24 January, BelTA has learned.

“On behalf of the state, the people of Vietnam and myself, I send my most sincere greetings to you and the Belarusian people on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Belarus. Vietnam and Belarus are connected by close friendship between their people that was growing stronger in difficult years, when Vietnam was fighting against invaders, uniting and building the country and protecting peace. Over the 25 years since Belarus declared independence and our countries established diplomatic relations, on this solid foundation and with the political will and determination of the leaders and people of the two countries, the friendly relations and all-round cooperation have been expanding and growing stronger, which meets the interests of the people of Belarus and Vietnam,” the message of greetings reads.

The message also reads that Vietnam and Belarus attach great importance to cooperation. The two countries implement the agreements signed by the heads of state, coordinate and support each other in the international arena.

Vietnam appreciates support provided by Belarus with the conclusion of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Vietnam and Belarus are set to harness new opportunities in order to raise the cooaperation to a higher level. The Vietnamese leadership and people together with the Belarusian leadership and people strengthen and develop the traditional friendly relations and maintain effective cooperation, especially in trade, economy and investments.

For his part, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus extended congratulations to all the participants on the anniversary of the Belarusian-Vietnamese diplomatic relations and expressed confidence in their further all-round development. The event was attended by representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Parliament, the diplomatic corps, and active members of the Belarus-Vietnam society.
