Unmatched safety of Belarusian nuclear power plant reiterated

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Belarus is building the safest nuclear power plant there is, BelTA learned from Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko during a press conference on 17 January.

The emergencies minister underlined that the fire-fighting and rescue service station near the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction site gets constantly trained and demonstrated good results during an exercise last year. “I believe we are on the right track and our nuclear power plant will be the safest one there is. No doubt about it,” noted Vladimir Vashchenko.

The official informed about active work in progress in various departments of the Emergencies Ministry. “The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department has done a particularly huge amount of work. You can see that our neighbors no longer send passionate and groundless accusations our way about the lack of safety in our nuclear power plant. We are building the nuclear power plant primarily for our own sake. We are first and foremost interested in its safety,” stressed the Belarusian emergencies minister.
