Tsimanouskaya: Duel between strongest athletics teams appeals to spectators

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – The duel between the teams featuring the best track and field athletes of the two continents draws spectators, Belarus’ Krystsina Tsimanouskaya, who represented Team Europe in the women’s 200m, told journalists following the Europe v USA Match, BelTA has learned.

“The duel between the teams of strongest track and field athletes from the two continents cannot but draw spectators,” Krystsina Tsimanouskaya said. “I wanted to win so much that I started off faster than I was ready. I understood that I could compete for medals. This will teach me a lesson ahead of the world athletics championships,” she added. Krystsina Tsimanouskaya noted that she will try another tactic at the world championships. She also pointed out that athletes were getting a lot of energy from spectators before the start.

Krystsina Tsimanouskaya hopes that such track and field matches will not be left to history and will become a good tradition.

The Europe vs USA Match took place at Dinamo Stadium in Minsk on 9-10 September. On 9 September, athletes competed in 18 disciplines. The second competition day featured 19 events.

Each discipline featured eight athletes (four from Europe and four from the United States). The winner of the competition in each discipline got €7,000, the silver medalist – €5,000, the bronze medalist – €4,000. Around 350 athletes took part in the event. Team Europe featured 14 Belarusian athletes.
