Ties between Grodno Oblast and Gansu Province seen as example of interregional cooperation

GRODNO, 5 June (BelTA) - The interaction between Grodno Oblast and the Chinese province of Gansu is an example of interregional cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Cui Qiming told BelTA as he attended the opening ceremony of the 11th Festival of National Cultures in Grodno.

On 5 June the Chinese Ambassador met with Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Kravtsov.

“Recently, the cooperation between China and Belarus, including interregional ties, has been developing dynamically. Grodno Oblast and Gansu Province cooperate very successfully in all areas. It can be said that the contacts between these regions are exemplary. The regions are starting projects in culture and in tourism. A center of Chinese medicine and a hotel compound are being built in Grodno. Next month will see bilateral meetings between the heads of the Belarusian and Chinese regions,” Ambassador Cui Qiming said.

The potential and prospects of cooperation of the regions in all spheres, including in culture, are great, the Ambassador said. For example, the 11th Festival of National Cultures was attended by a delegation of the Chinese Embassy in the Belarus and a cultural delegation from China.

Having received the support of UNESCO, the festival acquired the international importance, Ambassador Cui Qiming said. “I saw a lot yesterday. This is really a diverse event. It shows what Belarus and Grodno Oblast are. I saw here that Belarus is a peaceful, beautiful, stable, and quiet country. The festival focuses on the human values and shows that together we can achieve peace, harmony, cooperation and unity,” the Chinese Ambassador noted.
