MOGILEV, 11 November (BelTA) – The international community is interested in Belarus’ practices for revitalizing cultural heritage, Belarusian Culture Minister Boris Svetlov told journalists on 11 November as he attended the international forum Traditional Culture as a Strategic Resource for Sustainable Development of the Society held in Mogilev from 11 through 13 November, BelTA has learned.

“The forum is an important event for the cultural life of the country. It is held for the fourth time. The list of participants includes many international experts. The forum falls within the global cultural trend of going back to the roots,” Boris Svetlov noted.

Svetlov: International community interested in Belarus’ cultural heritage management practicesHe believes this explains the immense interest towards Belarus from Armenia, Azerbaijan, China, Italy, and other countries. They are interested not only in Belarus’ cultural heritage, especially the intangible one, but also in the methods and techniques that the country has developed over the recent years to promote its cultural traditions.

Svetlov: International community interested in Belarus’ cultural heritage management practicesThe forum has gathered academics and folklore experts from 11 countries, including Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Turkmenistan, China, Italy, and Azerbaijan. They will take part in a conference on intangible cultural heritage, its current state and the challenges it is facing. Besides, they will share best practices for conserving intangible heritage and using it for social and cultural development of the countries.
