Ryzhenkov: Belarusian athletes will be highly motivated at the Rio Games

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes will be highly motivated at these summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov told BelTA ahead of the start of the 2016 Rio Games.

“All athletes understand how important these Olympics are for them and Belarus in general. The preparations for the games have already been completed. All training plans have been fulfilled. In the forthcoming days the athletes will have to show what they have been training for over the past four years,” said the First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee.

According to Maxim Ryzhenkov, this year’s Olympics have become one of the most scandalous events even before the start of the Games. The Belarusian Olympic team has also faced some problems. According to the First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, the Belarusian national rowing team, one of the world’s strongest teams, has been unjustly banned from the participation in the Games. “We will definitely lack a few medals without Vladimir Shantarovich’s men in Rio. Nevertheless, I am happy with the mood of the women’s part of the national team. I am confident that Belarusian athletes will be highly motivated in Rio. I have no doubt in it,” Maxim Ryzhenkov stressed.

The summer Olympic Games will take place in Rio de Janeiro on 5-21 August. The Olympic program will include a total of 306 medal events.
