Rapota: Belarus-Russia border will remain open for Belarusians, Russians

PSKOV, 28 November (BelTA) – Free movement across Belarus-Russia border will remain in force for Belarusians and Russians, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told the media after the meeting with Governor of Russia’s Pskov Oblast Mikhail Vedernikov in Pskov on 28 November, BelTA has learned.

“Free cross-border movement will remain in force for Belarusians and Russians,” Grigory Rapota said while commenting on the Belarusian-Russian agreement on mutual recognition of visas which is currently in the pipeline.

Grigory Rapota confirmed that the document will be signed this year. “The agreement which streamlines and facilitates border crossing for third-country nationals will be signed before the end of this year, at least the foreign ministers assured us of this,” he said.

According to Grigory Rapota, the agreement will greatly benefit business and tourism, including in the frontier areas of Belarus and Russia.

A group of Belarusian journalists are on a press tour in Pskov, Russia. The tour was organized by the Union State Standing Committee jointly with the National Press Center of Belarus and the international news agency Rossiya Segodnya.
