Roman Golovchenko

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – The number one goal is to end Belarus’ dependence on hydrocarbons and any other market dependence, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a parliamentary session on 11 June, BelTA has learned.

“In the new reality of the economy’s transition to world energy prices and constantly emerging external threats, our top-priority task is to end the country's dependence on hydrocarbons and any other market dependence, eradicate systemic imbalances, ensure sustainable economic development and the growth of citizens' welfare,” said Roman Golovchenko.

According to him, these and other tasks will be reflected in the future program of government activities. “The documents will be submitted to the parliament in due course,” the prime minister stressed.

The House of Representatives gave its consent to the appointment of Roman Golovchenko to the post of prime minister. He addressed the MPs, answered their questions. Among other things, the MPs were interested in the prospects of cooperation with Russia. The prime minister noted that the issues arising in bilateral relations are addressed in a constructive manner. “We work in a calm, stable mode. Differences regularly emerge in the views on some economic processes. The task of the government is to seek solutions favorable for Belarus. This is our fundamental position. Everything should be aimed at benefiting the interests of the Belarusian people, including in relations with partners,” Roman Golovchenko summed up.
