Opinion: Visa liberalization will widen the appeal of Brest 2018 business forum

BREST, 5 January (BelTA) – Visa liberalization will raise interest in the international business forum-exhibition Brest 2018, Yelena Pivnik, head for foreign economic affairs, cooperation with BCCI members, and customs formalities at the Brest office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) told BelTA.

“Last year, more than 200 foreign guests registered for our forum-exhibition. I think that this number will grow significantly this year. The liberalization of visa requirements in Brest provides potential participants with extra opportunities as now they can make a last-minute decision to attend,” Yeleva Pivnik said.

In her words, invitations to the forum-exhibition were sent to every partner organization prior to the New Year so that they could include Brest 2018 in their work plans. These include foreign chambers of commerce and industry, business associations, large companies, and SMEs – regular participants of international economic events. Over 1,000 letters of invitation were sent across the globe: to the CIS countries, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Eurasian Economic Union.

“We have already received the first responses to the invitations from Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, and Germany. Businessmen from Russia’s Pskov and Bryansk have applied for arranging collective stands. Besides, this year we focus on such form of participation and offer potential exhibitors coming from the same region to set up collective stands,” Yeleva Pivnik added.

The third installment of the international business forum-exhibition Brest 2018 will take place on 26-27 April. The event will provide a venue for a dialogue on topical investment-related matters, establishing and strengthening long-term cooperation in manufacturing, trade, and services between Belarusian and foreign enterprises and companies. The forum will see business meetings and B2B matchmaking events. The exhibition will include a presentation of the economic potential of Brest Oblast and Belarus, the most attractive investment projects and startups in Brest Oblast.

The organizers of the event are the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and the BCCI office in Brest.
