Opinion: Business liberalization is a good thing but one should not forget about public safety

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Business liberalization is a good thing but one should not forget about public safety. Belarusian Interior Minister Igor Shunevich made the statement after presenting his report to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 27 March, BelTA has learned.

“While the liberalization of commercial operations and trade is a good thing, one should not forget public security. Any freedom has a sense and value only if it relies on serious commitments, which guarantee this freedom,” stressed the Belarusian interior minister.

Following the head of state’s instructions, attention will be paid not only to shopping centers, but also other crowded places where emergencies may be a threat.

During the meeting with Alexander Lukashenko the Belarusian interior minister said he had earlier met with Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko. “We’ve discussed the instructions and worked out the areas where we will work together. We will check all the crowded places, particularly entertainment centers where threats to the life and health of people can be,” noted Igor Shunevich.
