Opinion: Business climate in Belarus is improving

LUXEMBOURG, 27 October (BelTA) - The business climate in Belarus has improved lately, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn said at the Belarusian-European Investment Forum in Luxembourg, BelTA has learned.

“The business climate in Belarus has improved. The structural reforms that are happening in the country have contributed to this. We welcome this, particularly the efforts of the government to support small and medium-sized enterprises,” Johannes Hahn said. He promised support to Belarus on its way of economic development.

Johannes Hahn noted that the European Union intends to continue its cooperation with Belarus. “We cooperate with international financial institutions with a view to raising investment in transportation, communications, energy, and the water resources management program,” he said.

We are concluding the discussion of the priorities of the EU-Belarus partnership that will create a strategic framework for cooperation in the coming years, the European commissioner noted.

Johannes Hahn called the investment forum in Luxembourg a great initiative and an opportunity to hear detailed information about Belarus from first hands. “We are running out of chairs in the room. This is the best indicator of interest of European business in Belarus," he said.
