MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – No coronavirus cases have been reported in Belarus, Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“No coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Belarus as of today. We have ramped up coronavirus screening efforts at Minsk National Airport and other points of entry along the Belarusian border,” the minister said.

According to Vladimir Karanik, a risk-based approach to managing epidemics is used in Belarus. “In other words, we assess potential risks and develop a set of measures to minimize these risks,” he explained.

The Healthcare Ministry works in collaboration with medical professionals from the neighboring states. Representatives of the CIS healthcare ministries converged for a meeting a day ago. On 28 January the minister met with the Chinese ambassador to Belarus. “We have launched a coherent information exchange using all the channels. China is taking strong measures to curb the spread of the virus outside the country,” Vladimir Karanik said.
