Myasnikovich: Belarus, Russia should create a common market without restrictions

MOGILEV, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia should create a common market in the Union State without restrictions, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich told BelTA after the working meeting to discuss the preparations for the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev.

“We need to seriously monitor all issues concerning the implementation of the Union State Treaty. The main goal, and our head of state regularly emphasizes it, is to ensure the operation of a common market without exemptions and restrictions for economic operations and equal rights of citizens of the two states,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

The speaker stressed that there are no intentions to revise the treaty. It means that the goals and tasks which were formulated in it 20 years ago need concrete solutions, legal acts and activities from corresponding officials. “We plan to prepare this serious analytical document by the forum and to work out additional measures to ensure the full-fledged implementation of the treaty and achieve its goals,” the chairman of the Council of the Republic said.

Mikhail Myasnikovich also remarked that the forthcoming forum is a very responsible event rich in innovations. Its program will include numerous projects and events, meetings of regions exactly at the level of regions, students’ meetings and sports events. It is expected that there will be many events in the format of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia starting from July.

According to the speaker, not all issues, including practical ones, have been solved, but the preparations are on schedule. Financing sources, event venues and accommodation facilities have been determined. The forum in Mogilev is scheduled for the end of September.
