MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Belarusian beauties Maria Vasilevich and Margarita Martynova visited the National Beauty School to share their impressions of the Miss World 2018 and Miss Supranational 2018 beauty pageants. They talked about their contest outfits and plans for the future, and thanked Belarusians for their support, BelTA has learned.

Maria Vasilevich was among the continental queen winners at the Miss World 2018 pageant. She won the Miss World Europe title and made it to the top 5. It was Belarus’ best result in this competition so far. Belarus’ beauty also performed very well in the Top Model Challenge and Sports Challenge.

“The support of the public helps to move forward, which is very important when you are far away from homeland, family and friends. It is important to feel and understand that people at home are waiting for you and believe in you. This really encourages you to keep going even if something goes wrong. When you open social networks and see thousands of messages there, it makes you smile,” Maria Vasilevich said.

She admitted that the most difficult thing during the contest was to maintain a competitive spirit. “We never knew our schedule for the next day. An approximate plan for the following day was announced as late as around 11pm a day before. We woke up at 6-7am, had breakfast, after that we were taken to rehearsals or excursions, shootings, then to lunch. After that we did shootings and rehearsals again. We were done around 9pm. I had no emotions during the final show. When I was standing on the stage, I thought what place of the stage I should move to if my name was announced. I did not want to make a mistake and ruin the show. When everything was over, I broke into tears,” Maria Vasilevich said.

Maria Vasilevich’ immediate goal is to pass a session in her Master’s degree program. In 2019 she will join the other Top 5 finalists in their charity trips around the world. She will visit various countries, including New Zealand, Vietnam, Mexico and Indonesia.

Margarita Martynova won the Miss Supramodel of Europe 2018 subtitle in the Top Model round of the Miss Supranational 2018 beauty pageant and made it to Top 25 of the contest. She also thanked Belarusians for their support. “It is very heartening. As for my plans for the future, I will keep working as an English teacher and do some modeling. I have plans to take part in fashion shows and beauty pageants. However, I would rather not guess the future,” she noted.

The girls demonstrated several outfits, while Maria Vasilevich even showed her crown given to her at the Miss World contest during the final gala dinner. The girls said that each of them took three pieces of luggage full of clothing to the beauty pageants.

Representatives of the National Beauty School, designers and other team members who helped the Belarusian contestants get ready for the pageants, shared details of shooting presentation videos, making outfits and preparing for the talent show. They emphasized that it is not enough to be good looking to achieve good results. Strong will, determination and ability to work in a team are equally important.
