Minsk named best venue for Ukraine talks

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – It is highly important that Minsk has been chosen as the venue for talks on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Communist Parties – Communist Party of the Soviet Union, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine Petro Symonenko told media on 19 March, BelTA has learned.

“I would like to thank the Belarusian authorities and Alexander Lukashenko personally for the opportunity to have this political platform. It is of high importance that this platform is not in Brussels or Paris, but here. The brotherly people of Belarus view as vital to help reach agreement in this bloody civil war and exclude its any further negative development,” said Petro Symonenko.

He stressed that he followed the process of Minsk talks. Petro Symonenko also criticized the position of the Ukrainian side. In his opinion, Ukraine should follow the path of federalization. The leader of Ukrainian communists believes that destructive processes have been spreading not only to the south-east of Ukraine but throughout the country.

Apart from Petro Symonenko, attending the regular 12th meeting of the Communist Party of Belarus were also representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Union of Communist Parties, the Union of Communist Parties – Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Belarusian public organizations and political parties.
