MFA: Poland willing to discuss issues in relations with Belarus rather than politicize them

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Poland is willing to discuss the issues in the relations with Belarus rather than politicize them, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski said as he met with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei in Minsk on 22 March, BelTA has learnt.

“The new Polish government wants to see good relations with neighbors and have the problems, if there are any, settled. I have repeatedly said that we need to look for friends nearby,” Witold Waszczykowski noted.

He said that he would like to start a dialogue with Belarus on the good-neighborly relations, and on the regional and pan-European ties, which applies to the two countries. Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs offered to discuss difficult issues of the bilateral relations, in particular those relating to the historic dialogue, human rights, and the Polish minority in Belarus. “We will discuss these issues and address them in a pragmatic way with a view to settle them rather than politicize them,” Witold Waszczykowski noted.
