MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – Belarus resolutely condemns the criminal attempt to overthrow the government and expresses its support to the President and the Government of the Republic of Turkey, reads a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus regarding the military coup attempt in Turkey, BelTA has learned.

“It was with serious concern that Belarus learnt the news about the military coup attempt in the Republic of Turkey, which was carried out by an isolated group of the Turkish military. It is particularly regrettable that there were casualties among the civilians. We are in full solidarity with the Turkish leadership who qualifies this act as a treasonable attack on the people and the legitimate authorities of Turkey,” the statement reads.

“We are convinced that with the support of the nation and army the Turkish government will be able to stabilize the situation in the country shortly. We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
