MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – I hope Match Europe v USA will become a good tradition, Belarus’ Hanna Malyshik, who represented Team Europe in hammer throw, told the media after the Match in Minsk on 10 September, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian athlete highlighted that she was happy with her performance. Even though the Match Europe v USA is not the main event of the season and a greater focus is on the preparation for the IAAF World Championships in Doha, the athlete took the competition in Minsk very seriously. “This competition was the dress rehearsal before the world championships. This competition was excellently organized and offered the support of the home crowd. The Match Europe v USA is on a par with the world championships in terms of the atmosphere and emotions. I hope that such competitions will become a good tradition”, Hanna Malyshik said.

Her teammate Daryia Barysevich (1,500m) expressed her regret for not showing her best on the home turf.

Eight athletes competed in every event (four representatives from Team Europe and four from Team USA). The winners of every discipline got €7,000 each, the runner-ups €5,000, and the bronze medalists €4,000. About 350 athletes took part in the competition. Fourteen Belarusian athletes were part of Team Europe.
