Makei: OSCE’s common goal is to get away from mutual accusations between its member states

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – The OSCE’s common goal is to get away from reciprocal claims and accusations between its member states, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Serbia’s First Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic on 21 July, BelTA informs.

According to Vladimir Makei, the Ukrainian conflict showed that the OSCE is in a deep crisis and the problem is in the lack of trust between its member states. “We believe there is a need for serious discussions of the future of the organization and its structure. Unfortunately, today the main principle of the organization is to lodge claims and lay mutual accusations to each other,” the minister said.

“Our common task is to get away from these mutual accusations and claims and find the basis to unite the activity of all OSCE member states,” the Belarusian minister stressed.

In his words, Belarus is fully supportive of Serbia’s priorities during its chairmanship in the OSCE, which are aimed at the creation of the single space, stability and security in Europe. Vladimir Makei assured Ivica Dacic that Belarus would continue supporting Serbia’s efforts in reaching these goals.

The Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs also noted that the relations between Belarus and Serbia have been steadily developing.
