Makei: Europe starts to realize that Belarus is a donor of stability and security

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) - Europe starts to understand that Belarus is a donor of stability and security, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in an interview to Belarus One TV channel, BelTA informs.

“Europe starts to realize that Belarus is a donor of stability and security, not a troublemaker. Together with Europeans we work on addressing joint challenges such as illegal migration, drug trafficking and international crime,” said Vladimir Makei.

The minister added that Belarus also secures safe and reliable transit of energy resources. “We do a lot more in order to ensure peaceful development of the European continent,” he noted.

In his words, Belarus always takes note of the statements made by its partners and always looks at concrete moves. “Such statements are a positive fact,” the diplomat is confident.

According to Vladimir Makei, the history of Belarus' relations with EU countries show that sanctions have never led to success. “We are interested in a prompt lifting of sanctions. This is in the interests of both Belarus and the whole Europe: the presence of normal trade, economic, political, humanitarian and other relations,” he said.
