Makei confirms Belarus’ interest in dialogue with North Korea

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei confirms Belarus’ interest in developing dialogue with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, especially in the trade and economic sector. The Belarusian official made this statement after his meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong on 9 March, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei is convinced that the relations between Belarus and North Korea have a great potential. “Belarus is interested in building up constructive relations with its partners,” he said.

According to the minister, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral dialogue, shared opinions on the matters of the current international agenda.

According to Vladimir Makei, Belarus has been developing open cooperation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The countries have common goals, i.e. to develop a stable and independent economy, improve people’s living standards.

The Foreign Minister of Belarus expressed hope that his counterpart’s meetings in the Belarusian government and visits to the leading industrial companies of Belarus would prompt new projects and new prospects in bilateral cooperation.
