Makei: Belarus and Russia have never had disagreements on key issues

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia have never had and will never have disagreements on key issues, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media on 4 April, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei noted that disagreements can occur between economic entities of the two countries. Disputes in the trade and economic cooperation cannot be ruled out as well, the minister added. “As for the key foreign political or security matters, Belarus and Russia have never had and, as I am convinced, will never have any disagreements,” the minister stressed.

He added that the two countries support each other in the international arena. “We always support each other. We are in close cooperation in the area,” the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs said.

At the joint ministerial board in 2016 the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia signed a program of coordinated steps in the foreign policy. The document included all aspects of bilateral cooperation, including within international organizations, Vladimir Makei said. In June 2017 the two ministries will hold another joint ministerial board to mark 25 years of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and Russia.
