Luo Zhanhui: China-Belarus friendship embodies the Great Silk Road spirit

URUMQI, 24 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese pragmatic cooperation will become even more fruitful, Charge d'Affaires of China to Belarus Luo Zhanhui told BelTA.

The diplomat emphasized the importance of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to China. The Belarusian head of state is expected to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. “Bilateral talks will cover such areas as the Belt and Road development and the deepening of interregional cooperation in the Eurasian space. In the process of the Belt and Road construction, China and China fully embodies the Great Silk Road spirit: peace and interaction, openness and inclusivity, mutual benefits. I am confident that the Chinese-Belarusian pragmatic cooperation is different areas will lead to even more fruitful results,” he said.

In his words, Chinese-Belarusian relations are maintained at a high level and continue developing. Political mutual trust is continuously strengthening. Belarus is one of the first countries that has supported the Belt and Road initiative and taken part in the Silk Road Economic Belt project.

Speaking about the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, Luo Zhanhui stated that the parties are trying to turn the industrial park into an open platform of industrial cooperation, make it a model project for bilateral cooperation at the world level.

The diplomat also emphasized efficient cooperation in the areas such as communications, logistics, car manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure development.

The program of the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will include a roundtable summit and a high-level meeting consisting of three parts. The forum’s theme is "Belt and Road Cooperation, Shaping a Brighter Shared Future”. Taking part in the event will be about 5,000 foreign guests from more than 150 countries and representatives of more than 90 international organizations, heads of state and governments of 37 countries, Luo Zhanhui.

China President Xi Jinping put forward the Belt and Road initiative in 2013. “Its promotion is based on the principles of joint consultations, joint construction and shared use. Facing present-day challenges, China is ready to continue the Belt and Road project with its international partners. With this new platform we need to add a new impetus to joint development and pave the way for peace, prosperity, openness, ecology, innovations and civilization,” the Chinese diplomat said.

“As the chief initiator of the project Xi Jinping provided a detailed account of the guiding principles and goals for the construction of the initiative, deepened its promotion and continues promoting it sustainable and long-term development for the benefit of the nations of the countries along the Belt and Road project. Cooperation priorities along the Belt and Road initiative include policy coordination, facilities connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration and people-to-people bonds. The initiative covers not only the economic development program, but also sci-tech exchanges, cooperation in education, cultural tourism, green development and foreign assistance,” the Charge d'Affaires of China said.

Luo Zhanhui expressed confidence that the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation would open new ways for all the countries, including Belarus, to intensify international economic cooperation.
