Lukashenko warns against doping in sports

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – It is unacceptable to use banned practices and doping while training athletes, Belarus President and President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko said at a session to discuss the development of summer sports on 18 December, BelTA informs.

“I want to warn you against any banned practices and substances! This should be eradicated once and for all. After all, this is punishable by criminal law. One anti-doping scandal tarnishes the entire country and all sports. You know how much attention it invites,” the president said.

The head of state noted that individual countries, including Belarus, are under the spotlight of corresponding international organizations.

The president asked about medical and scientific support of sport. “In March 2019 we will inaugurate a new building of the National Research Center for Sport. It should deliver results. It should not be another hangout for individual athletes and officials,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.
