Lukashenko urges to make every effort to prepare Belarusian athletes for Olympic Games

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – It is essential to make every effort to prepare Belarusian athletes for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in a message of greetings addressed to Belarusian athletes on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“This year Rio de Janeiro will host the Summer Olympic Games, and Belarusian people expect that our athletes will be a success at this major competition held once in four years. Therefore, today it is essential to make every effort to prepare sports teams at the highest level,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

Since its foundation, the National Olympic Committee has been a large and respected public organization which has made a big contribution to the development of elite sport, promotion of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. At present, the National Olympic Committee has to deal with responsible tasks to ensure the competitiveness of the Belarusian sport, the message of greetings reads.

Belarus’ Olympic movement has a rich and glorious history. “We are by right proud of the scintillating performances of Belarusian athletes who have added bright pages to the history book of the Belarusian sport. Their achievements help enhance the authority of our country, create its positive image on the international arena,” Alexander Lukashenko remarked.

The head of state wished Belarusian Olympians strong health, happiness, courage and the will to win to the glory of the Belarusian sport.
