Lukashenko: This U.S. document will be ‘a gift to the world’

Lukashenko: This U.S. document will be ‘a gift to the world’

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The implementation of the recently adopted U.S. National Security Strategy will be a “gift to the world”, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with the U.S. media company Newsmax, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of state described the newly released strategy as a solid document. “If it comes to fruition, it will be a gift to the world,” he affirmed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that U.S. President Donald Trump is currently taking the correct course of action, particularly by focusing not only on foreign policy but also on addressing domestic political and economic issues. “This is absolutely right,” the president said.

As BelTA reported, the updated U.S. National Security Strategy outlines a number of key priorities. It states that a paramount U.S. interest is to achieve an agreement for a rapid cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, to avert unintended escalation, and to restore strategic stability in U.S.-Russia relations.

The strategy also expresses a U.S. objective to ensure that NATO is no longer perceived as an “ever-expanding alliance.”

Furthermore, the United States declares a commitment to a policy of “flexible realism” and a desire for constructive relations with all countries without imposing democratic or other social changes upon them. The document also highlights the Trump administration’s disagreement with European officials who, in its view, harbor unrealistic expectations regarding the war, “relying on unstable minority governments, many of which trample on the basic principles of democracy to suppress opposition.”
