MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – No matter what peace initiatives are put forward, the situation in the world is seriously escalating, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his Address to the Belarusian People and Parliament during the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 18 December, BelTA has learned.

“National unity, peace, and security are fundamental values that we recognize ever more sharply with each passing day. This is, in no small part, the result of the daily efforts of law enforcement agencies, institutions, and every officer in uniform. In truth, there is no such thing as easy service, nor have there ever been easy times when it comes to risks and threats to national security. Such challenges have always existed, and today they are multiplied many times over. It is a troubling trend: the global community is being drawn toward a worldwide conflict. Regardless of the peace initiatives that may be voiced, the situation continues to escalate. Whatever proposals Trump may put forward, you can see how the process is deliberately dragged out,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He noted that Belarus has an effectively functioning system of law enforcement response to any challenges and threats. “We built this system during a difficult period, overcoming the dangerous circumstances of the 1990s. At that time, restoring order and ensuring people’s protection from criminal arbitrariness became a matter of honor. Today, every citizen knows that their life and property are reliably safeguarded. In Belarus, one can develop business without relying on criminal protection, and the fact that we now regard this as normal is a significant achievement,” the head of state emphasized.
