Lukashenko: Miss Belarus will shape the image of the country

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The winner of the Miss Belarus 2016 beauty pageant will shape the image of the country together with athletes and figures of culture, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his speech before the final of the national beauty pageant Miss Belarus 2016 on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

The President remarked that today the contestants make steps forward not only in their personal lives. “Someone will make these steps in mainstream politics helping others at the beginning and, maybe, being directly involved in it later. Because beauty is irresistible. Beauty is insuperable in the economy, politics, and life,” the head of state stressed.

In this context, Alexander Lukashenko recalled a case when he was abroad and presented a state award to one of foreign leaders. “We had a very difficult day, there was a session, politicians had a long debate and could not come to an agreement. Economy is a complicated thing. At a certain point in time, in line with the protocol, I had to present that award,” the President said. “The door opened, and two Belarusian girls entered (assistants. – BelTA’s note). Suddenly there was absolute silence. Everybody forgot about the economy and politics. They were staring at those girls only.”

Lukashenko: Miss Belarus will shape the image of the country“Today we will crown the most beautiful Belarusian girl who will shape the image of the country together with athletes and figures of culture. I will not conceal that I came here to show respect to our wonderful women. Boldly speaking, it is an opportunity to say that we love them. Because our women are the pearls in the necklace of the Belarusian nation,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The President remarked that he also could not leave the anniversary 10th beauty pageant Miss Belarus without attention because it takes place in the Year of Culture. “Admiration of beauty, harmony, and perfection is the foundation of culture, especially of our spiritual Belarusian culture. Women’s beauty is one of the most miraculous and amazing creations of nature,” he said.

Lukashenko: Miss Belarus will shape the image of the countryAlexander Lukashenko stated that women’s beauty has inspired poets and artists to create great works of art, heroes to accomplish feats and make achievements for millennia. “It is true that many mistakes in history were made because of women. Wars broke out because of a beautiful woman. Thousands of people fought to death,” the Belarusian leader remarked.

In his words, in the Belarusian and Slavonic culture the image of a woman has been haloed with profound respect and admiration of beauty and wisdom since ancient times. Great ladies were not only the muses and companions, they also created history. As an example, the President mentioned Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Anastasia and Sophia of Slutsk, Aloiza Pashkevich, Larisa Aleksandrovskaya, and other renowned Belarusian women. “Wonderful heroines of our time glorifying Belarus with their sports feats, remarkable achievements in art, science, medicine, and other fields are as good as those ladies. I think it is also important that this beauty pageant gives our girls a unique opportunity to show their worth and reveal new facets of talent,” the head of state said.

“The finalists of the 10th Miss Belarus beauty pageant embody the best features of the young generation of Belarusians harmoniously combining visual appeal with inside spiritual beauty. I would like to believe that the participation in this contest will be a stellar springboard to success in life, I also hope that the grace and talents of the finalists will be in demand in the television industry, art, and other areas,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

The head of state also gave important advice to the participants of the beauty pageant. “The time is very difficult. Thanks to nature and parents you are endowed with immense beauty, now you have to take care of this beauty. Please do not waste it because life is very short. Use this gift in full,” he said.
