Lukashenko: Minsk is ready to remain a neutral place for addressing major issues

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – Minsk is ready to remain that neutral platform where the most complicated issues can be settled, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the international conference “Neutrality Policy: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development” in Ashgabat on 12 December, BelTA learned.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus and Turkmenistan have similar goals. “The Belarusian foreign policy is based on the country’s aiming at peace, equal cooperation with each partner, mutual respect. Our multi-pronged foreign policy is akin to the Turkmen neutrality,” said the Belarusian leader.

The President stressed that both Belarus and Turkmenistan speak in favor of an absolute priority of political and diplomatic methods in settling any international conflicts, including the recent ones.

“Our country has been doing its best for a peaceful settlement of these conflicts and the conflict in Ukraine testifies to the fact. Minsk has become that ideal neutral platform where the most serious issues can be addressed. We are ready to play this role if the world powers need it,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
