Lukashenko: Launch of Belintersat-1 satellite is a result of many-year Belarus-China cooperation

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko sent a telegram to China President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the successful launch of the Belintersat-1 satellite from the Xichang cosmodrome, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The President stressed that this is an important event and the result of many-year comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries. “Launched by the Chinese carrier rocket, the satellite has become a key element of the national system of satellite communication and broadcasting of the Republic of Belarus. The project is highly innovative, has an economic, social and political significance for our country,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

According to the Belarus President, the satellite launch, which was eagerly awaited in both China and Belarus, demonstrates the achievements of Chinese science and technology in the field of space exploration.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that the further joint work in developing space technology would allow Belarus and China expand their opportunities in the sector of telecommunication services.

The head of state congratulated the Chinese President on this remarkable event. On behalf of the Belarusian people Alexander Lukashenko wished Chinese scientists and specialists in space technology and communication systems new discoveries and further success for the benefit of the humankind.
