Lukashenko lambasts peace prize in war-town world

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – There is no peace, but there is a peace prize race, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the Belarusian people and Parliament in Minsk on 18 December, BelTA has learned.

Commenting on the current global situation, the head of state stated: “There is no peace, but there is a competition for the peace prize.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he conveyed a message to his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump and advised him not to worry about not being awarded that prize.

“They will give it next year. That's first. And second, if they offered that prize to me, I wouldn’t want it, I wouldn’t want to be in the same company with that camarilla. What kind of peace prize is that?! It's a disgrace today. I said, why is Trump seeking it, why does he need it? He is a completely different kind of person. They gave it to that woman from Venezuela. I looked into it: that woman actually called for the 'smart' collective West to strike Venezuela. That's the peace prize for you. A war against one's own people is rewarded with the peace prize today,” the president noted.
