Lukashenko: International respect for Belarus has increased considerably

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – International respect for Belarus has increased considerably. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he addressed outgoing and newly elected members of the country’s parliament on 7 October, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that Belarus has always supported the idea of ceasing any armed hostilities in favor of resolving all problems via negotiations. “Thanks to this the international respect for Belarus has grown considerably. I raise the matter for a purpose,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko. “Members of both chambers of the parliament have been working hard together with the head of state, the government, the diplomatic corps to help Belarus secure a true diplomatic breakthrough. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has decided to hold its 26th session in Minsk.”

The event will take place in Minsk in summer 2017. More than 700 politicians from 57 countries will convene in the Belarusian capital then.
