Lukashenko: Great Patriotic War lessons should never be forgotten

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to the participants of the international forum Great Victory Through Unity, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state remarked that the sons and daughters of the Belarusian land have always demonstrated openness, diligence, and commitment to good-neighborly relations to the whole world. In the difficult years of military ordeals they fought to death defending the borders of the common Fatherland, which was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

“Our sacred duty is to do our best to preserve the historical truth, to remember the lessons of the Great Patriotic War forever,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. “We were victorious in the fierce fight against the Nazis because we were united. Together we rebuilt the huge country from ruins, restored its military and economic strength, and advanced culture to a high level.”

The President expressed confidence that today our sovereign states will be able to resist challenges and threats of the present time thanks to close interaction, comprehensive assistance, and productive cooperation in various fields.

The forum Great Victory Through Unity is running in Minsk on 27-29 April.
