Lukashenko: Country’s stability depends on economic growth

BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – If the government supports economic development, the country will always be stable, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with the authorities of the city of Baranovichi and Baranovichi District on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

“The only danger to our development is not ideology, not the media, neither advanced, nor traditional, and not the internet. If we support our economic development at the proper level, if we gradually move forward every year, make progress every five-year period, our country will always be stable and no one will be able to turn us anywhere. The main thing is the economy,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

The head of state said that his visit to Baranavichi is part of the regional development campaign that was launched in Orsha District. "It was important to try out all the ideas I proposed on the land I know very well and then apply this experience to other cities,” the president explained.

“We had a difficult experience in Orsha. Almost half of the government were sacked there. I do not want this to happen in Brest Oblast. You know me: if I come to you, we agree on something and I make a decision, you must implement it. I will not stand aside,” Alexander Lukashenko warned.
