Lukashenko confirms Belarus’ non-involvement in special operation in Ukraine

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – Belarusian troops are not going to take part in the special operation in the territory of Ukraine, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with representatives of the Belarusian state security bodies on 15 March, BelTA has learned.

“As for Ukraine, you are closely following the situation. I want to emphasize once again (you know this better than other people): we are not going to get involved in the operation that Russia is carrying out in Ukraine. The most important thing is that there is no need for this,” the president said.

“Well, how can we reinforce Russia there? As for the military personnel, they have enough manpower of their own. Can we reinforce Russia in terms of weapons? No, we buy all weapons from the Russian Federation. They have it all, and even better than ours. Therefore, we have nothing to do there. And we are not invited there,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that against the backdrop of the special operation, the Belarusian troops are performing their own tasks in the territory of Belarus. “Our task - this is very important in any battle, not only in a war - is to prevent an attack from the rear on advancing Russian troops. We must never allow this to happen. Never! It will be akin to betrayal. I said this in the first days. We are doing this, because we need this ourselves in order to protect our borders in the northwest, west, and even in the south today,” the head of state said.
