Lukashenko: Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park project is important for bilateral relations

Lukashenko: Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park project is important for bilateral relations

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko urged to step up efforts to implement the project to construct the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park as he heard out a report about the progress in the construction of the park on 10 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state believes that it is essential to accelerate the construction of the facility. He emphasized that the Chinese side views this project as one of the most important projects in the Belarusian-Chinese relations. The President deems it necessary to step up efforts to create the park taking into account the fact that the meeting with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping will take place this year.

“I would like to listen to the report about the progress in the establishment of the industrial park. When will we start to build hi-tech facilities that will have an impact on the image of the Belarusian economy there?” Alexander Lukashenko asked.

The President instructed Head of the Belarus President Administration Alexander Kosinets to take control over the Chinese-Belarusian relations, including the construction of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park. Besides, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Nikolai Snopkov has been monitoring cooperation between Belarus and China before. “Everything should be done in a rational way,” the President said.

The head of state emphasized that the People’s Republic of China is the crucial partner of Belarus. He pointed out the importance of the resolution of the issue regarding the export of products to the People’s Republic of China in favor of Belarus. “They spend hundreds of billions of dollars on imports. As I have already said, they are our friends; therefore, the export of Belarusian products to China could be raised by $2-3 billion this year; they could buy even more next year,” the President said.

After the report Nikolai Snopkov told reporters that the large-scale construction of the interior infrastructure of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park is expected to begin in April.
