Lukashenko: Belarus wants equal partnership with Russia

Lukashenko: Belarus wants equal partnership with Russia

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus wants equal partnership with Russia, including in the gas and oil matters, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when addressing the Belarusian Parliament on 7 October, BelTA has learned.

“Calculations are not the case here. If we start calculating, we will go too far. We are not going to do this. The only thing we want is the cooperation on equal footing. If we have it, Russia will never have problems with us. There will be no problems, even if the power is in the hands of other people, not Lukashenko. The interests of our states are interconnected,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

The President is confident that the gas and oil dispute cannot destroy the relations that Belarus and Russia have been building over the past decades. Otherwise, this all may end up in problems which would be hard to settle.
