Lukashenko: Belarus has no potential enemies, but ready to repel any threat

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) - The Belarusian Armed Forces are ready to repel any threat from any direction, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with representatives of the Ukrainian mass media in Minsk on 26 September, BelTA has learned.

“We have been building our military policy very carefully and are ready to repel any threat from any direction. Our army is not the same as in Ukraine or Russia: we do not have huge units that can be deployed by fronts. We have only mobile units and territorial defense where we can draft half a million people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. "We do not have potential enemies yet.”

The president noted that the mobile armed forces are ready to react quickly to any threat and immediately advance in the necessary direction. Forming huge units is even dangerous in case of a threat . “With modern precision weapons you will be spotted and bombed in the place where you form a group,” he explained. "This is why we make an emphasis on mobile armed forces. We produce our equipment for them and have already started to produce our weapons. We do not want to buy from anyone. The experience of Ukraine shows: when shells are over, you have to ask someone for this ammunition.”
