Latushko: Belarus seeks closer cooperation with Spain

BREST, 21 July (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in intensifying cooperation with Spain, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France, Spain and Portugal Pavel Latushko told media on 20 July, BelTA informs.

“This year the two countries have boosted bilateral cooperation. Over the five months of 2015 the Belarusian export to the Spanish market soared 146%. It is of utmost importance that businessmen of the two countries have been strengthening contacts. We, together with the Spanish side, have also prepared intergovernmental agreements to develop cooperation in industry and economy. An intergovernmental Belarusian-Spanish trade and economic commission will be created in the near future,” Pavel Latushko said.

According to the Belarusian diplomat, Belarus is interested in the development of interregional relations. For this purpose Belarus has been conducting economic presentations in Spain. The recent one has been held in Alicante, Valencia Province. The Honorary Consul of Belarus will be appointed there soon.

“We know that the consul-to-be is a very active person. He is a businessman. He has been behind the organization of a number of Belarus’ economic presentations in Spain. I hope that his appointment will add momentum to our relations with Valencia Province and other Spanish regions,” the Belarusian Ambassador said.

Alfonso Jurado Mesa will be appointed Honorary Consul of Belarus in Alicante. Pavel Latushko presented the future diplomat at the ceremony to donate paintings of Spanish artist Josefa Mesa Garcia to the Museum of Brest History on 20 July.
