MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Belarus deems it necessary to set clear objectives in cooperation with the Eastern Partnership (EaP) initiative and the European Union, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko said at the consultation on the future of the Eastern Partnership in Minsk on 4 October, BelTA has learned.

“It is important that the EaP goals and objectives should be comprehensible and meet people’s needs, so that any person, having studied the priorities for the next few years, could see that the Eastern Partnership is for them, their family, their business, a city or a village where they live, and for their country in general. We can achieve this only if we set clear objectives, for example, to reduce the waiting time at the EU border to one hour, create new jobs, or bring companies in line with the EU standards, which will allow exporting goods to the European market,” said Oleg Kravchenko.

The Belarusian diplomat noted that this is the way to go. “I will be glad if by the end of the meeting we can generate several promising ideas that will help to upgrade the Eastern Partnership initiative,” said Oleg Kravchenko.
