Italy supports Belarus’ initiative on meaningful dialogue in Europe

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Italy supports Belarus’ initiative on starting a meaningful dialogue in Europe, Italian Undersecretary of State of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Vincenzo Amendola said following the meeting of the CEI foreign ministers on 22 June, BelTA has learned.

“The first point I would like to make on behalf of Italy is that we express our economic and political support for the Central European Initiative. Belarus’ presidency has been a success. All the participants of the meeting emphasized the Belarusian hospitality. But the most important thing is the message that Belarus is trying to convey: it is time for the Western Balkans and the European states like Belarus to sit down at the negotiating table and discuss the key matters. They should not just hold a regular dialogue but come up with solid solutions,” Vincenzo Amendola underlined.

The politician pointed out that the Minsk meeting focused on developing connectivity and transport system within the CEI region and finding common solutions to different problems.

Vincenzo Amendola thanked Belarus for hosting the ministerial meeting. “We managed to open the dialogue and review the agenda for the nearest future. We are impressed with Belarus’ performance as the CEI leader,” he summarized.
