Indonesia considering opening embassy in Belarus

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Indonesia Vladimir Lopato-Zagorsky met with Setya Novanto, Speaker of the People's Representative Council of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia, on 16 February, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

During the meeting the head of the lower chamber of the Indonesian parliament mentioned positive dynamics in the development of Belarusian-Indonesian relations. The sides discussed trade and economic cooperation, the expansion of the legal base, ways to bolster the level of interaction in agriculture, education, and other areas.

The Indonesian side agreed that it is advisable to open an embassy of Indonesia in Belarus.

Setya Novanto expressed readiness for future development of cooperation with the Belarusian parliament. The sides agreed to resume the work of the group of friendship with the Belarusian parliament in the lower chamber of the Indonesian parliament. Interest in the exchange of visits of parliamentary delegations at the level of heads of the chambers was expressed.
