India views cooperation with Belarus in EEU as promising

MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) - India considers cooperation with Belarus in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) as promising, Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, said during the meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

Nirmala Sitharaman thanked the Belarus President for the kind words addressed to her country and for the hospitality extended to the President of India during his visit to Minsk in June this year. "This visit will be remembered for a long time," she said.

Nirmala Sitharaman recalled that during the highest-level visit India allocated a credit line worth $100 million. "We hope that we can find projects in the areas of common interest which will be implemented with the use of this credit," said Nirmala Sitharaman.

She stressed that Belarus is a great friendly country, with which India has had good relations for a very long time. "Being part of the Soviet Union, Belarus actively cooperated with India. We appreciate the ties with the countries of the region,” she noted.Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, during the meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko
